"Dancing with Parkinson's NV Video Project"

The Project

The Dancing with Parkinson’s Nevada video project is designed for people with Parkinson’s disease. Our primary target audience is people who are: 1) Homebound, 2) reside in rural communities or 3) have no access to a dance for Parkinson’s class in their community. After viewing all twelve videos, we hope you will take our survey, so we can better serve our communities. For those who complete the survey during 2019, they will receive a free online booklet on how to mix and match the videos to create a one-hour class. The booklet will also include the written directions to the improvisation exercises in video six.

The Videos

This project has been designed for beginning students and is an introduction to dance for Parkinson’s disease. Videos one through nine teach the viewer how to do the exercises in the later videos. In videos ten through twelve, the viewers will participate in a mini class with some of Pamela’s dancers at a Las Vegas dance studio. In order to receive the benefits of these videos, you will need to practice along with us. And, if you are new to dance for Parkinson’s disease, please practice videos one through nine, before participating in videos ten through twelve.

Remember to always consult with your doctor before beginning an exercise program.

The Teacher

Pamela Lappen, founder of the Dancing with Parkinson’s – us project, created the Dancing with Parkinson’s Nevada video project. She is a Dance for PD® teaching member, and has a M.A. from UCLA, in Dance and Education and a B.F.A from UW-Milwaukee, in Dance and Theatre Performance. Pamela has an extensive background as a dance educator, performer and choreographer who has a life long passion of making the dance arts accessible to all people.

From all of us we hope you enjoy the videos and remember to keep on dancing!
